11" x 14" oil on multimedia artboard
Initially I was struck by the gesture of the model, both the curve of her body with head tilting back and the gesture of her hands. As the painting progressed I abandoned the background context, downtown San Francisco through the windows, and began adding thick abstract marks made with my palette knife. I shifted the light towards the cool yellow green, which played off well against the warmer notes on her body. Her hair falling into the black fabric was accented by the vertical knife marks I made, and the first word that came to mind was "cascade."
This painting is oils on archival multimedia artboard, a resin encased paper. It is lightweight and durable. But be cautious about dropping it on its corners; because of the resin's rigidity, it can chip. It will be shipped unframed, sandwiched between two pieces of gator board and acid free glassine paper
